1 Material of the stamping mould

The materials for making stamping mould are steel, carbide , steel carbide, zinc alloy, low melting point alloy, aluminum bronze, polymer materials and so on. At present, most of the materials for manufacturing stamping mould are mainly steel, commonly used mould working parts materials are: carbon tool steel, low alloy tool steel, high carbon and high chromium or medium chromium tool steel, carbon alloy steel, high speed steel, matrix steel ,carbide and so on.

2. Selection principles of stamping mould materials

The materials used for the manufacture of the mould are also very strict requirements. Not only requires the hardness, strength and wear resistance of the material to be very high, but also to have the appropriate toughness, and the quenching property is also very high, and the heat treatment is not deformation and quenching is not easy to crack and other properties.

In order to ensure the service life of the mould, it is necessary to select the mould materials reasonably and implement the heat treatment process correctly. The selection of the correct steel type and heat treatment process should correspond to the different uses of the mould, in addition, it should also be based according to its working state, stress conditions, the performance of the processed materials, production batch and productivity and other comprehensive factors, and should focus on the above requirements of the performance.
